The Price Cattle Co. story begins with Arthur Price who drew ‘Tarcoola’ near Injune in 1963, as part of the Fitzroy Catchment Brigalow Development Scheme. Arthur and wife Gail developed the block and built a successful beef business. Sixty years later, Price Cattle Co. is now a multi-generational business spanning five properties and running 10,000 cattle, led by their son Owen and his wife Brigid, and supported by grandchildren Maddy, Rob and Isabel.

Our family

Price Cattle Co. has its roots at ‘Tarcoola’, at the southern end of the picturesque and productive Arcadia Valley.

Family, legacy and sustainability are at the heart of our business and every decision that's made. Our Company Charter details this approach and acts as an important reference point in our decision making.

We approach day-to-day operations with a philosophy of data-driven value-based decision making in order to protect the country and remain viable for generations to come.

Our family is committed to strict biosecurity practices to protect the land, the animals and the people. In 2022, Price Cattle Company won the Farm Biosecurity Producer of the Year award from the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Transparent record-keeping and attention to detail also applies to herd management with the current generation embracing new technologies, including genomics and paddock-based weigh scales to understand individual animal performance and improve genetic selection.

In 2017 our business was assessed against more than 150 international standards and successfully achieved Grazing Best Management Practice certification.

Isabel Price
Student

Isabel is a boarding school student in Rockhampton, where she enjoys studying business with a view to applying that knowledge when she returns to the farm in the future.

Her weekends are typically spent helping big sister Maddy at ‘Greenlake’ with general farmwork, from mustering to fencing to animal health treatments.

On holidays she can’t wait to return to ‘Tarcoola’ to see her parents and her pet dogs, and to work the cattle on the home property.
